Executive Summary
The Anthem, a 130,000 square-foot concert and event hall, anchors The Wharf, a 24-acre waterfront development in D.C.'s Southwest quadrant. As the neighborhood’s cultural center, the concert hall needed to host performances by internationally celebrated artists and local favorites, as well as serve as a unique convention facility and event venue. The choice of construction contractor, who could deliver quality workmanship within a non-negotiable turnover date, came with high stakes for the owners of this high-profile venue.
The primary scopes of work for the fit-out included: integration of electrical and plumbing systems; installation of a new switchgear and lighting and power distribution for the stage areas; the creation of a ticket booth at the Jetty Terminal; the procurement and installation of kitchen equipment; installation of tile and plumbing lines and soda and beer lines for all seven bars, and fabrication and installation of custom metal panel stage curtains.
The quality of workmanship for The Anthem is clearly visible throughout, especially in the unique perforated metal panels that resemble dramatic stage curtains on each side of the stage. The huge backlit metal panels give the space a permanent industrial design esthetic.
