Firm of the Year

This year’s Firm of the Year was selected as a result of a nomination process, the winner chosen by vote of the Chapter Board of Directors. Congratulations to this year’s nominees B.F. Saul Brookfield, Carr Properties and The Bernstein Companies. All are exceptional organizations and key contributors to our region and the Chapter; we applaud and thank each for their contributions.

The Bernstein Companies is a leading regional development, investment and management company operating hotel, office and apartment properties throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. Very notably and appropriately this year they are recognized as partnering with Boston Properties in Maryland’s largest private real estate transaction, Marriott’s International Headquarters and Hotel development in a $600 million 1,000,000 sf urban campus downtown Bethesda. Other notable projects include a town center redevelopment adjacent to the Southwest Waterfront Metro, Prince George’s County, Prince George’s Plaza revitalization.

They have also played an active role in the Washington, D.C. community - working with organizations such as the Autism Speaks, Sasha Bruce Youthwork, the US Holocaust Memorial Museum, the Kennedy Center, Arena Stage, Hope for Henry, American University, and Medstar Hospital among others. Company executives and employees are also actively involved in leadership roles across local commercial real estate organizations and groups such as the City First Foundation, AOBA, AICPA, JDRF, ULI, CREW and NAIOP DC|MD.

The Bernstein Companies have demonstrated long standing support for our Chapter through continued Gold Chapter Sponsorship and participation as mentors in Gear Up for Year Up. The firm’s Vice President of Development, Gregory Rooney, is also actively involved as a Board Member, a Capital Challenge case competition judge, a founding member of the Leadership Committee and a coach in the annual Year Up event.
